Sheila Swearngin, Ph.D.

Dr. Swearngin is a licensed psychologist in Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado, and is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Consulting Supervisor. She has a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Kansas, School of Medicine in Wichita and Wichita State University, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. She has worked in all levels of patient care, including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and private practice for more than 30 years, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, compulsive exercise, body image, trauma, and chronic health concerns. She has experience working with adults, couples, adolescents, professional and student athletes. Her clinical goal is to support and guide patients as they seek to better themselves, learn healthy ways to cope with life difficulties, gain insight into their thoughts and behaviors, and overcome past pain and suffering by creating corrective connections. She gains fulfillment from her work by helping patients achieve their therapeutic goals, cultivate acceptance, and reach their full potential.
